Ethical policy
We believe that connection and healing go hand in hand. It’s a belief that we carry into every part of our process, infusing each step with mindfulness and intention. From the wax we pour to the boxes we pack, our choices are guided by our commitment to ethical, sustainable practices. This policy outlines the steps we take to minimise impact, support conscious living, and continuously improve as we grow.
Choosing Suppliers
We choose our suppliers with great care, seeking out businesses whose values align with our own. Many were selected specifically because they offset their carbon footprint, use plastic free and fully recyclable packaging, responsibly source their raw materials, or hold cruelty-free or Fairtrade certification.
Ingredients and Materials
Our candles are made using a UK-grown rapeseed and coconut wax blend that is paraffin free, palm oil free, and completely vegan. We chose our unbleached cotton wicks for their clean-burning properties, and all scents used are phthalate free. We promise never to use products which have been tested on animals.
All crystals are sourced through reputable UK wholesalers who assure ethical working conditions and environmentally conscious extraction.
Packaging
Our packaging is minimal, entirely plastic free, and either recyclable or compostable. Much of it has been recycled once already, which is why you may notice the occasional fleck or colour imperfection in our boxes or inserts.
To limit paper waste, you won’t find printed receipts in your parcel - all order confirmations are emailed digitally instead.
We reuse or recycle all packaging that we receive from our suppliers to avoid waste at every stage.
Operational Practices
We’ve assessed our shipping options to ensure they have the lowest environmental impact as practically possible, balancing reliability with footprint.
Wherever we can, we place supplier orders in bulk to reduce the number of shipments arriving to us - something we’ll continue to optimise as our business grows.
We also make our candles in the largest batches our space allows, helping us to reduce energy use and waste during production.
All records are stored digitally, to further reduce paper use.
Giving Back
Despite our best efforts, we know that every business - however small - leaves some footprint. That’s why we’ve joined Ecologi, to plant a tree for every order placed. It’s our way of saying thank you to the planet for the resources we use, and a step toward restoring the balance.
Additionally, 1% of every sale is donated to causes close to our hearts. To learn more about where we donate and the projects we support, visit our Sanctum page or follow our story on Instagram.
Future Goals
As a small, home-based business, we’re proud to do as much as we can with the resources we have. As we grow, our goal is to transition to 100% renewable energy, expand our supply chain ethics, and constantly refine our practices. We don’t claim to be perfect, but we’re committed to learning, adapting, and making better choices wherever we can.
